Thanksgiving Trip Booked

Okay I have booked my Thanksgiving vacation - I am going to Egypt! I am so close - only a 1.5 hour flight. I will be flying into Cairo.

Does anyone have any suggestions of must-do there? I have found a great company which I make an itinerary. Besides the Pyramids and doing a camal ride - does anyone else have suggestions? I will be there for 4 nights and 4 days.

The website I am looking at is www.touchegypt.com - it was recommend to me by other ACS families.

Let me know!

Jill,
WOW wish I could go with you. Good on ya' for doing it while you can.

Did the obvious Googled "women travel alone Eygpt" and many sites came up. One was www.jordanjubilee.com...seems good..safety, how to dress et al

I'll keep surfing

Love

Hi Jill,

Steven and I went to Cairo on our cruise. Be very careful and be sure to book a 5 star hotel ( the standards are not at all comparable to US). Everyone I talked to that has traveled to Egypt on their own(not with an organized group) has had mishaps. You are a smart traveler...have a great time! :)

Jill,
Egypt is awesome! How long will you be there? If you plan to stay in Cairo only, then I would definately recommend the Khan EL Khalil Bazaar. It's bustling with people and chock full of stuff. See this website: http://www.touregypt.net/khan.htm. I also highly recommeng the Egyptian Museum. I think you need 2 or 3 whole days just to walk the place and appreciate the antiquities. Make sure you see the mummies though I think you'll need to pay a little extra for that. Here's some info: http://www.touregypt.net/egyptmuseum/egyptian_museum.htm. As for safety, I would also recommend you venture with a group. I found that the people were more bold than other places. Keep your personal belongings really close. And, I would recommend you wear pants or long skirts. In other words, be conservative. Just be vigilent and don't walk alone. It's very crowded - the city is huge. If you get a chance to go to Alexandria, it's not that far away. You're going to love it. Can't wait to read about it.

And, BTW, I may see you in June 2010 if you're still there. Planning on going to Beirut. Hope all is well.
