Granada, Spain

Last weekend (June 12-14)before school let out my good friends Kate, Miah and baby Harper and I flew to Magala,Spain where we were picked up by Miah's parents and driven to Granada, so Miah and Harper could reunite with Miah's younger sister Caris and Gaby, who was graduating from medical school in Granada!

While all this was happening with Miah's family, Kate and I took this opportunity to tour Granada (using one of those Hop On, Hop Off Tour buses). June 12 was quite a long day!

This was one of the many rooms in the palace which had such ornate marble etchings, it was unbelieveable.

Then on Sunday (day of graduation) the family did that and Kate and I went to tour La Alhambra. Wow quite impressive! Although the weather was much cooler (70 degrees and rainy) in the end I thought it would have been quite exhausting touring the grounds and the palace in scroching heat.

La Alhambra is an impressive area. The grounds on which many large gardens are well-kept and manicured. And the palace of Nasrid - the fortification of this area was builit in 13th century by the Moors (Arabian decents) and was taken over by Queen Isabella and Ferdinand in 1492 when they claimed Granada and declared it a Catholic area not Muslim. (This is my own summary which I believe I have mostly correct...)

Sunday evening, the grandparents babysat while all the "kids" went out for tapas.

It was a great yet quick weekend.
